For your health and wellness

Apples, oranges, bananas and cantaloupe, the perfect health foods

You are what you eat, and in the colder months make sure you get your Vitamins.

A very simple way to lift your mood and give you a boost for the day is to eat fruit.

Remember to eat some fruit each day

I love to make a large fruit bowl to keep in the refrigerator so that when I need something sweet, I try an apple first to give me the soluble and insoluble fiber for my day. The inside (soluble) and the outside of an apple ( insoluble) really do give you the fiber you need for the day. It is a fact that eating fiberĀ  keeps you fuller on those days when you are craving some simple carbs like potato chips; try an orange instead.

And a cantaloupe gives you both Vitamin A and C, along with the brightness of oranges! Remember that the brighter the orange color, the more Vitamin A you will find. Also included in this brightness are your orange veggies such as carrots and squash.

Potassium

To stay healthy and balanced in your body, many doctors prescribe the banana instead of blood pressure medicine.

Instead of that candy bar, reach for a cup of fruit

Bananas areĀ  a perfect fruit to add to each and every day; giving you the potassium you need which may keep your blood pressure where it is supposed to be; potassium is needed in the regulation of the many systems of your body, especially in water and sodium balance. Potassium and calcium are both needed in the regulation of your body, so drink some calcium rich foods such as milk and cheese. And if you are lactose intolerant you may want to try the calcium enhancement of coconut or almond milk.

Other sources of potassium include bok choy, cauliflower, yellow corn, beets, and cantaloupe.

Health and wellness can be yours with a few additions to your diet

The other added benefit of fruit grazing in your day is that it helps with your cravings for sugar. And for people who have blood sugar lows, do not grab that candy bar when you can eat a banana or an apple.

Your body will thank you too when you eat fruit instead of the high caloric candy bar. People who eat lots of fruits and veggies are thinner than their candy eating friends.
