When I was young, I would go to mom with my problems; sorting them out, bouncing some ideas with her and listening to her soft voice tell me about her experiences in life.
Mom did not say much to me; she would nod, smile and most importantly, listen to my plea for help. I cannot remember anyone else I could go to that would just listen and then say things like, “Be patient with yourself and others; things will change, and most of the time they will be good changes.”
“And if they are not good changes mom, what do I do next?” “You pray.” mom would say with a sparkle in your brown eyes.
The power of prayer and silence
Today I am praying for things to pass so that I can move on to better times in life. And I try to stay hopeful; guided by some inspiring words of positive others who tell me to be patient with myself. This too shall pass guides me to get up in the morning and take a deep and cleansing breath of life. And I practice silence; knowing that my silent ways are healing; comforting me like a warm hug as I sit in meditation.
Sometimes changes are forced upon you; they may not be your idea but they come like a great wind, sweeping you off your feet and as you try to push against the wind, you begin to realize you need to embrace it.
Staying with hope
If you still have hope, this is the first step toward realizing that even those changes that seem wrong for you, may be right for you at this time.
Do not fight so much against the wind; allowing things to unfold and then take a look at what is there for you to cherish. And if the change is not what you want it to be, take a deeper look.
And then remember the Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference
