When you change to a more plant based diet, you will not only look better because you have lost some weight, you will feel better too.

Those nutritious foods that you are beginning to eat will be nourishing your body which will help with removing toxins and getting your gut in better shape, especially with some prebiotic foods in your system such as bananas, whole grains, onions, garlic and artichokes; probiotics (fermented foods such as yogurt and tempeh which is a fermented soy product) and prebiotic foods get your digestive system in better shape along with those healthy herbs added to your diet which can also be medicinal.

Herbal Ways

There is much research on the benefits of ginger, garlic, turmeric and other spices for helping with many ailments including memory. Turmeric and sage lead the way with the memory department and the research is related to helping to slow down Alzheimer’s disease.

Herbs and flavor

Herbs also add flavor to your meals, making some plain tasting foods taste better. I love fresh basil,  garlic, sage and parsley. I add them to my potatoes and vegetables instead of salt; perking up my meals.

Grains, beans and avocados

Cut down on your meat consumption and find other healthy protein.

Instead of meat, try some grains and beans (the perfect protein combination) along with some fresh avocado for your healthy fats along with nuts.

Make yourself  a fresh lettuce salad sprinkled with nuts, raisins and chunks of fresh avocado.
