While swing on a swing I begin to think about what changes I need. Find your centered spot to just think about your needs and desires
Some Quiet Time
Find some quiet time to just sit and listen to your spirit. It will tell you what you need to do in order to be at peace. Swings are wonderful for just relaxing and thinking.
Listing the things you need to get rid of
I have a list in my head of what I need to change about myself, but the one that surfaces the most is all about clutter.
I want to de-clutter my life, and concentrate on the important things along with the things that I have been waiting to do.
Things that help me to feel better and lighter! Things that make my world happier and joyful.
Clutter and things that are saved for no reason can become a problem for many people.
And when they try to get rid of some things, they just cannot do it.
Emotional Attachment and other people’s stuff
If you really want to be healthier, you have to get rid of the emotional attachment so that you can move on. Material items really should not mean that much to you. Maybe it’s time to focus off the material things and do more with your spiritual being.
What do you have that is not yours?
Many people have other people’s stuff because others may be looking for ways to de-clutter their lives too. Be aware of those people, and don’t take their stuff because it will make it even harder to get rid of because you may think that they will ask for it back, and then you would feel bad. Don’t feel bad about other people’s stuff. If it was so valuable, they would have kept it.
My Personal De-Cluttering
Computers have helped me with the de-cluttering of my photos.
Now you can just keep them on a media page which does not take up much room.
Maybe it slows down my computer a bit, but that is not a reason to collect shoe boxes full of pictures.
The things that I struggle with are things that matter very little such as having too many clothes. They say if you have not worn it is a year, get rid of it.
The same method comes to mind for other things too. Things in your kitchen cabinets and things in your closets that really need to go should be a priority. Pretend that you are moving and do not want to take all your stuff with you!
Benefits
There is much theory on the de-clutter process.
When you get rid of things you do not need, you become lighter, and others could benefit too, especially if you give the things away to a good cause.
What is old and useless to you becomes something lovely and wonderful to another!
Any time of year is a good time to Spring Clean.
Acceptance
Begin to accept the fact that you do not need everything that you have. Acceptance will come when it is easier to find your keys, cell phone or glasses.
Some of us cannot get rid of anything. As a last resort, you may want to enlist a friend or relative to help you with your struggle.
The last time I did a complete purge of my life trinkets, I got a dumpster~ and I may have thrown out too much, but I don’t remember feeling any loss.
Remember that those things are just material items that you have an attachment to, and this attachment is stagnating your ability to make the changes you need to in order to be strong and centered.
Getting rid of things you do not need will help you become free and happier.
