There are so many theories on weight loss, I find it difficult to understand how some diets work – and some don’t. I guess some things work for some people and not for others.
Here are a few things that I have found helpful along the way.
First of all, it is all about what you eat. I heard this statement over and over from many people in the health field- ” It is 30% exercise and70% what you eat. “
So I started thinking about that statement a lot, and decided that maybe I was exercising too much, and when I cut down, I lost more weight. I don’t want you to stop exercising!
Don’ t give it up~~ just slow it down a bit to maybe 3-4 days a week instead of everyday~ or switch it up with different activities instead of high intensity things. I started walking more. I am still doing some type of activity every day, but I am not at the gym as much. You can go overboard on exercise!!
Other tips: It is about what you have in the house that can sabotage you. If you don’t have any potato chips and ice cream, you cannot eat them. You need to start thinking about what you are eating- you cannot lose weight if you have temptations everywhere. Have good things in your refrigerator to go to when you are hungry. Those bags of baby carrots are great!
Find a Friend: This one is great. Find a friend who is also trying to stay healthier through some lifestyle changes. Partner with them for tips and maybe even a walk.
Never give up: You can do it. It takes a lot of determination and motivation to get the goals that are meaningful in life.
I have heard these same losing weight pep talks before but am often discouraged. With a family full of obesity it should be easy for me to be motivated towards a healthy lifestyle, but its the complete opposite. I eat well for a week and then pretend life gets in the way as an excuse to eat poorly. Obviously making excuses is my problem in the weight loss realm, but i know its something that can be overcome.
Hi Again Brittany, It is so true about weight loss. People go on a roller-coster of losing and gaining it all back- plus more. Thank you for your comments.
