Depression Traps

I write a lot about ways to feel better about yourself. Many people fall into traps of depression and have a hard time finding ways that help.
Staying in the present is a good way to help yourself. Try to stop dwelling on past bad experiences or thinking about what the future may bring. If you stay grounded in the present, you will feel better. Think about what you can do today- right now – to help yourself out of a problem situation. Feeling unworthy or guilty about anything is not going  solve difficulties in life.

You need to begin by finding some good parts of your life, and focusing on that- in this moment right now. Break out of the past and begin to live.
You may want to begin by building your self-esteem.
To work on your self-esteem, you need to make a realistic appraisal of yourself, and take a careful look at your life with honesty.
Here is a good start from author Jay Cleve, who wrote: Out of the Blues.
He believes that the Serenity Prayer is a good place to start:God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can
And wisdom to know the difference.

Finding your own wisdom to make the needed changes in life may be the first step.
1.Make a list of your strengths and ways to enhance your strengths
2. Set up some realistic goals that you need to accomplish
3. Design a plan with your unexplored interests and potentials in life
4. Explore what you want verses what you need
5. Have a life support system consisting of family, friends, self-help literature, and special training you may need.
