>Many people have decided to give up on their New Year’s Resolutions by now!
We start out believing that we can make the changes we need and when we fail, we just give up!
Don’t give up on your good changes for the new year. Plan it out well, and have some short term goals that will help you get to the big goals in life.
For habit reduction goals:
Cut down on smoking before you quit. This is a helpful method that will get you into the habit of smoking less ( and living longer). Think of it as- for every cigarette you have, one day is taken off your life!!
For eating better and losing weight goals- plan your meals well and you will not be so hungry that you eat everything in sight!! And get those “bad” foods out of the house- replacing them with fruits and veggies!!
Finding some good habits: planning well
I plan my meals for the week. Sometimes I need to go back to the store to pick up a few things but most of the time, I know exactly what I am going to eat each day. I write my shopping list with my meals in mind. Planning specific meals really helps with “Dieting.” And remember that it is not a diet anymore— it is a lifestyle change that you will be living with the rest of your life. So those bad habits have to be replaced with some good ones- or you won’t last very long with your plans of staying thin!
I have different habits now, and they are good ones! I exercise daily. If you have a dog- take him for a walk every day instead of putting him on a leash outside!!
Try to do a variety of activities such as walking, jogging, and the gym for some weights and aerobic classes.
Good luck with your goals!!
