Veggy Tofu Pizza!
For dough: 1 cup water 115-120 degrees
1 package yeast
1-1/4 cup flour (wheat)
1 tsp salt
2 tablespoons canola oil
In a medium bowl put flour (I use half wheat/ white (unbleached)
yeast and salt. Add water slowly and beat with electric beater for 3 minutes
Knead to a stiff dough, you may need to add a little more flour for good consistency
Cover and let rise for 1/2 hour
Uncover and knead again for 6-8 min and cover for 1 hour
You can also use prepared dough from your local market!
Before you put the ingredients onto the pizza, sprinkle seseme seeds on the crust of the pizza.
Pizza Sauce: The pizza sauce is not really a sauce but a spread. You can also use spaghetti sauce, prepared hummus or any kind of squash.
I use acorn squash which I cooked before hand. You will need 1 small acorn squash, add cinnamon and sesame seeds to the mixture. If squash is cooked well, it will spread onto pizza crust easily ( cook well before)
Pizza Sauce: Acorn Squash
Pizza toppings: Tofu, swiss chard, spinach, green peppers, onions
Prepare tofu first. You will need 1/2 package very firm tofu with you cut into cubes. Then roll into seseme seeds before frying gently in a fry pan with 1 teaspoon of olive oil This should be done separate from the rest of ingredient. cook until brown. ( 2-3 minutes each side.)
Next, prepare Swiss chard ( I used red Swiss chard) spinach ( 1 cup each) Red onion ( 1 medium sliced in rings) 1 cup green pepper
In a frying pan with 1 teaspoon olive oil and 1 clove garlic -chopped, slowly add ingredients needing cooking. Start with spinach and Swiss chard, then add onions.
Do not completely cook, they will simmer on top of the pizza. Before you put in the oven, you can add black or green olives for the topping
Cook for about 20 minutes. Each slice has approx 150 cal. with 0 fat
