As winter approaches the colorful flowers disappear as do the birds except for the hardy black birds and  singing gulls who stay no matter what the weather.

We too have the hardiness of mind, body and spirit to be able to ride through the colder weather; bundling up with warm scarfs, hats and gloves. We feel the chill at first; shivering as the frosty weather surrounds us but then getting used to its waves of powerful storms and winds that chill.

Growing things has helped me in many ways. As a gardener, I reap the benefits of being outdoors in the sunshine; offering me a natural Vitamin D aid along with the exercise I get and the spiritual pleasures of growing life. Yesterday a friend gave me some basil to grow in my garden. Now I can 3 pots of basil, how glorious it is!

And the best part about growing is how healing it can be to your mind, body and soul.

On Eating your Greens

It seems like we are just coming out of hibernation. Our snow should be melting soon, and the birds are already back in town. What do we need to do to help dust off our cobwebs of the winter bliss?

I have been cleaning a lot, so I know that it will be time to open up the windows soon. I look forward to the first day when I can feel and smell the warm breezes. Since we have snow right now, that is a distant wish for me.
