Yoga and Weight Loss

When someone asks me how I keep my weight maintained I always think of yoga first

For some relaxing, stress reducing times, I love child's pose.

For some relaxing, stress reducing times, I love child’s pose.

I do eat a plant based diet with lots of fruits and veggies, and I exercise every day, but I truly believe that the mind, body and soulful ways of yoga keep me in place; still, strong, flexible and weight maintained.
There is reason to believe that yoga keeps you so very calm that you do not need to eat so much.
The first pose that comes to mind when I think of stillness and my ability to stay in a particular pose is child’s pose. When you are in that pose you are so still and calm; melting into the mat. You can meditate in Child’s pose; closing your eyes and just being calm for a long moment.

Balancing Life

Check your many selves today starting with your physical self

I remember as a child placing a book on my head and walking across our living room whispering quietly as not to unsettle the book, “Let’s see who can keep the book on top of our head the longest.” My two sisters and I  would all struggle to be the one with the best balance. And sometimes I won, and sometimes not; and  this game made me realize that I was not always the best balanced person.

If you begin to think of yourself as a balancing act every day, you will become very aware that you are not always 100% in your many selves.

Slowing down is good

As you age you may notice that you are slowing down a bit. It may take you a little longer to get ready for the day, or you may have some aches and pains that you did not have before.

As you move into yoga asanas, be aware of your posture; shoulders are back and straight

Brighten your day with some yoga

Brighten your day with some yoga

I have found that yoga was the missing piece in my life while trying to reach some healthy living goals.

My entire life has centered around my difficulties with keeping my weight maintained. I struggled a lot until I decided that it had to be a multitude of things I did that helped me, not just the food or just the exercise.
