My Safe Place is Inside of Me

Where is your safe place when you need a breather?

My safe places are in nature. Just walking and gazing at all living things.

Do you find comfort near certain possessions or people?

I have quite a few safe places. One is inside of me, allowing me to be creative with the pen,  the camera, and sometimes with a paint brush.

Safe People

I also had a safe place with my mother, just sitting with her, peeling her a tangerine. She liked the ones without the seeds called Clemintine’s.  We would just sit together, facing each other. Sometimes there would be silence, but it was a comforting quiet where both of us just took comfort in the presence of each other.

Now that mom is with the angels, I still find comfort in being with her spirit, and every time I think of her, she wraps around me in spirit, giving me a warm feeling throughout my body. This energy gets me through some of the tough days.

Some days can be cloudy and even scary but you can get through the tough times with some safe places.

Creating your Safety

When you find your safe places, you will know it because you can take a deep breath along with a long sigh and feel good being there. You can meditate or pray in your safe places. You can create a safe area in your home with comforting pillows where you just sit in silence.

Sometimes my comfort is behind the camera taking pictures of everything. There is spirit in every single living thing, and with the camera you can keep your safe places, glancing back at them when you need a comforting thought for the day.

As the fall weather begins to turn into winter, there is the stillness of a cold winter day that can also bring comfort and safety to living on this Earth.
