Healthy Aging is Possible

As you age, you want to stay as healthy as possible.

And there is definitely a connection to how you treated yourself when you were younger and how you are fending now. Good healthy habits begin in youth. Exercise, eating right and your stress are all factors that catch up to you later on. But it is not too late to start with some healthy goals.

Many studies have been done, including Dr. Deepak Chopra in his book on aging: Ageless Body, Timeless Mind. He describes how you are all about your traits. In the mind, body and spirit of things, we are all about how old we feel and think. A positive attitude with a smile on your face really does help you to not only age better, but live longer.

Depression and Health

Studies on depression has shown that many people who are depressed a lot during their life, shorten it. Taking medication helps but you need to control your moods through other modalities. Learn how to lower your stress and be depression free through some alternative modalities such as yoga, tai chi, breathing techniques with relaxation, and acupressure.

YOGA

Yoga has always helped me to control a lot of things in my life. When you learn the yoga breath that is slow and purposeful, and you find some poses that you can stay in that are calming and give you peace, your mood changes for the better. I always feel my best right after a session of yoga, whether it is in a class or I am doing it alone, it helps with my mood.

ACUPRESSURE

Tapping and potent acupressure points are ancient techniques that really help with stress and even some physical ailments that you may have. Begin to take a look at potent points on your body that need to be tapped into to allow the energy in your body to flow.

BE STILL

Be still just for a moment each day. A short meditation break throughout the day can give you energy, quell the depression and slow down your heart rate and lower blood pressure.

Be in the present moment of living. Do not live in the past or future. You only have control of what is happening right now.

Other aging factors include staying healthier with diet and exercise. There continues to be much literature on how we are what we eat! Eating healthy can slow down the aging process.

And of course some exercise. This is a daily event that should become part of your life. It does not have to be strenuous all the time. A gentle daily walk is needed for mood, slowing down the aging process and strengthening your bones and muscles. Put this into your new lifestyle.
