>There are two types of fats- the good and the bad! (bad being trans fats and anything hydrogenated) Avocados contain the heart-healthy monosaturated fat. When you compare avocados with other fruits, they contain more protein, potassium, magnesium, folic acid, B Vitamins, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. They are also rich in the phytochemical beta-sitosterol that can help with lowering cholesterol, and aid in protecting the prostate gland from cancer.
Every part of the avocado has special uses. In the Caribbean, Mexico and South America, the avocado seeds has been used to control dandruff. Some people chew the seeds to reduce toothache and even on the skin because it has antibiotic qualities and for intestinal parasites and dysentery. The flesh of the avocado has long been used to condition dry hair and for shaving creams.
Other uses
Studies have found that avocado use on human gum tissue can reduce the occurrence of gingivitis and other periodontal disease.
As a skin helper: A study in the Journal of Dermatology found that a cream containing Vitamin B12 and avocado oil kept psoriasis outbreaks at bay longer that Vitamin D cream.
For High Cholesterol:  There was a significant decease in the bad LDL and triglycerides with use of avocados in a 7 day study, These patients also showed a significant increase in the good- cholesterol HDL.
Diabetes: Patients consuming a high monosaturated fat diet consisting of avocados had better control of their blood sugar.
Arthritis: A dietary supplement made from a combination of soybean and avocado relieved symptoms of osteoarthritis.  There have been 4 well-controlled studies that verify the effectiveness of this oil combination.
Prostate Cancer: Dr. David Heber, director of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition, showed that when avocado extract was added to prostate cancer cells, cell growth was inhibited by up to 60%.
