Acai Berry

I have heard that Acai Berry can be helpful in weight loss! Not sure, but it has been known to be anti-inflammatory.
As a food acai berry is eaten raw and as a juice. The juice is used commercially as a beverage and in ice cream, jelly and liqueurs. There are also oral forms that are manufactured.
There seems to many uses for the treatment of  painful inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and improvement in general health and wellness. There are no side effects known, or interactions with drugs or other supplements.

Why should you eat acai berries?

Suprisingly, for a fruit, acai berry majority of calories comes from a good fat!

A serving of acai berry has about 100 calories and 6 grams of fat. Acai berry is rich in anti-inflammatory agents called Omega-9. It contains very little sugar, essential fatty acids, iron, calcium, fiber, Vitamin A and other antioxidants ( agents that fend off cancer).

Scientist have discovered that acai berry  has many health benefits, and has 10 times more anthocyanins than is found in a glass of wine.

And besides its ability to lower cholesterol, it has also been found to treatment symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (swollen prostate) and helps protect the immune system from physical stress.
As a home remedy
Acai combined with guarana syrup has been popular in Brazil as a drink. It is supposed to improve sexual performance!

Beauty: Acai berry is mentioned in anti-aging books, and has beautifying properties
Cancer: In a study at the University of Florida, researchers found that  acai berry greatly reduced cell proliferation and enhanced cell death in human leukemia patients.

Here is an acai recipe taken from: 101 Foods That Can Save Your Life by David Grotto, RD,  LDN

Apple Cider Vinegar
Many people talk about vinegar medicinally. Anything from skin care to urinary and kidney stone problems.
There have been studies finding that apple cider vinegar ( especially the organic kind) may lower blood sugar levels, help you to feel fuller, and in a general way- a good detox.
It has also been cited in skin health, hypertension, lowering cholesterol, improving heart health and possibly in the growth of some cancer cells.
There are some side effects: It can effect the enamel of the teeth, burn the mouth and throat if not deluted. If taken with a teaspoon of honey or deluted in water, these above side effects are negated.
Warning: Because it can alter insulin levels, people with diabetes should be see their MD first before using.
