Tomatoes, tomato based products such as sauces and V-8 juice are major sources of dietary carotenoids, especially lycopene. They have been shown to act as antioxidants and free radical scavengers that are beneficial to lowering one’s risk of cancer.
SOY
It has been established through research that more than 2/3 of human cancers could be prevented through lifestyle changes. What you eat can be implicated in both cancer development and prevention.
Studies have revealed a great difference between people in different countries and their cancer rates. In Asian countries such as China, Korea, Japan and Indonesia, they have the lowest rates of breast, prostate, colon cancers. However, due to their lifestyle changes of eating more “western” foods, the rates of cancer have been increasing in these countries.
Soy continues to be an contributing factor in cancer prevention. Other dietary fators need to be considered such as a diet low in saturated fat has also been linked to lower cancer risks.
Prostate Cancer: The death rate in Japan from prostate cancer is about 25% lower than men in the US. Japan men also have much smaller tumors which suggests that soy may slow the growth of tumors.
Soy may not only prevent some cancers- but also slows the growth of cancer.
